Zingchen to Stok trek is a 2-3 day short easy and beautiful trek with only one pass to cross. This trek around Leh suits those with less time available to pent in Ladakh. Once on top of Stok-La (4900m) a great part of the Markha Valley and Zanskar range of mountains can be seen. It starts from Zingchen which is 25km from Leh and is famous for its wildlife sanctuary.
Day 01 : Zingchen to Larsa : (3hrs)
Enter the Hemis National Park, chances of seeing some wildlife. On the way, the spectacular view of the nest of the Golden Eagle can be seen. Lunch at Rumbak village. After a short easy walk camp at Larsa which is the base of Stok-La pass. (Alt. 3850m) overnight in tent.
Day 02 : Larsa to Chumik Tangmo : (4-5hrs)
The first two hours of the trek are a bit tough as it is an uphill climb to the Stok-la pass (4900m). A beautiful view of the Ganda-La pass (4900m) and the Stok Range can be seen from the top. An easy descent to Chumik Tangmo, a good camping site.
Day 03 : Chumik Tangmo to Stok : (2-3hrs)
An easy walk through the village of Stok with beautiful surroundings, Stok village is the present seat of the Royal Family of Ladakh. The palace has now been converted into a museum which displays fabulous costumes, jewelery of the King and Queen, historical objects like coins, seals, weapons, armours etc. which are a few centuries old. An interesting place to visit.
Drive back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel.
