After at leisure in Leh, where we can take a walk to the colourful bazaar. Evening the local expedition team assembles to greet you and the entire logistics are checked. Day 03: Visit of the high Indus valley’s monasteries (by car)
We visit Shey houses the old summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. Its Gompa shelter an amazing Buddha, 12m high and the picturesque Thikse Monastery which is perched on top of the hill overhanging the Indus. Later drive to Hemis Gompa which is one of the largest in Ladakh. Drive back to Leh.
Day 04: Leh to Chilling (3,800m) in 3 hrs by (car)
We drive towards Srinagar and Kashmir to Nimmo, where the Zanksar river meets the Indus. We follow the left bank of the Zanskar river through a gorge to Chilling. This village has gold-smiths famous for local golden jewellery. Camp overnight in tents.
Day 05: Chilling to Skiu (3,200m) in 5hrs
We cross the zanskar river by way of a box and cable bridge and meet our trekking team on the opposite river bank. Camp overnight in tents.
Day 06: Skiu to Markha (3,700m) in 8 hrs
The trial joins the Markha river and will follow it for a few days. Today the trek is quite easy but numerous times, we will need to cross the river from left to right and back, this depending on the season and weather conditions. We will visit the Markha monastery and fort. Camp overnight in tents.
Day 07: Markha to Thochengtse (4000m) in 7 hrs
This day we have cross river on foot, two times. Many monasteries are spread along our route today after the Umlung Monastery,t the valley narrows and we stop to camp at the foot of Kangyetse (6,400m). camp overnight in tents.
Day 08: Thochangtse to Nimaling (4,600m) in 4 hrs
Trek in valley in direction of the Zalhungkarpo and the Rupshu. We go through tarn, pasture and start our gradual ascent towards the wonderful high valley of Ladakh in Nimaling. Camp
Day 9: Nimaling to Kongmuru-la( 5,200m) to Chogdo (4000m) in 7 hrs
Climb to the summer pasture of Nimaling, used by the shepherds Hankar and Markha, them follow the hedge to the top. The Kongmuru-la pass commands a beautiful view of the Kangyetse north face (6,400m), the Ladakh ranges and the Indus calley. Camp
Day 10: Chogdo to Gyonchu-la (4,600m), - camp at 4350m in 6/7 hours
From now on, we will follow a new and rarely travelled route through the valleys to east of our objective. Today , we turn towards the west into a tributary valley that leads after along and gradual ascent to the Gyonchu la. We descent a few master below to establish our campsite. Camp
Day 11: Camp at 4350m- shang-la (4,800m)- Matho-Phu (4,350m) in 6 hours
We will cross many spurs and minor passes with occasional views northwards towards the Indus valley and the peak beyond. We climb up to the Shang –al and then descend to the Tokpo river. Afterwards we will trek downhill to a nice camping place. camp
Matho-Phu to Matho village, 4 hours
Our taxi will be ready to for you to pack you up to Leh, drive back Leh.
